Armed suspect sought in attempted robbery in Fern Rock

Philadelphia police are on the hunt for an armed suspect who tried to rob a cell phone store in the city's Fern Rock neighborhood.

FERN ROCK (WPVI) -- Philadelphia police are looking for an armed suspect who attempted to rob a cell phone store in the city's Fern Rock section.

The incident happened on November 12 inside the Metro PCS cell phone store located on the 5600 block of North Broad Street.

The suspect was caught on surveillance entering the store at 5:45 p.m. and approaching the counter.

He points a handgun at the employee and demands money.

Instead, the clerk quickly locked the cash drawer and ran to the back of the store.

The would-be robber then fled the scene.

Nothing was taken and no injuries were reported.

Police describe the suspect as a black male, 22 to 26 years-old and 6'0" tall. He was wearing a dark skull cap, dark colored vest, jeans and armed with a handgun.
