Now specially licensed distributors in Pa. can legally deliver beer right to your door.

NEWTOWN SQUARE, Pa. (WPVI) -- It was the normal bustling Friday night at Carmine's Pizza in Newtown Square.

Families were eating out, the phone lines were burning up with delivery orders but the phone orders were far higher than normal.

That's because it's a new day in Pennsylvania.

As of this week, specially licensed distributors can now legally deliver beer right to customers' doors.

Customers are delighted.

"I think it's awesome. It's a huge convenience. Pizza and beer go hand-in-hand on a Friday night so it's convenient," said Dan Riccio.

Carmine's has long had its alcohol license - selling a broad array in house.

However merchants sense a jackpot here. The owners of Carmine's project a 20 percent increase in revenue because of this new liberalized law.

They'd been lobbying the liquor control board for ages. The owner says he can feel it right here on day one.

"I sell a ton of beer as it is right now. I think it will just skyrocket. Everyone asks for to-go beer, I already sell a lot as it is, and now it's going to go up higher I think," said Kosta Nokolos.

There are key regulations on this brand new beer to your door measure.

You must pay at the time you order. Payment at the door at the time of delivery is prohibited.

Only 192 ounces per purchase which is equal to two six-packs.

Also, all involved must be at least 21 - both the delivery person and the customer.

"I think it's definitely is more convenient. If you're going to get your food delivered you might as well get your beer and other drinks delivered also," said Julie Fradodiannis.

"I think this is a good addition. I think it will definitely help out the community and get people to stay inside when they're drinking," said Paul Karalis.

It took Carmine's two months to get a license for this new phase of beer and malt sales.

There's a long line of businesses awaiting approval.
