Black bear caught in Abington Township

ABINGTON TWP., Pa. (WPVI) -- Authorities captured a black bear that has been spotted wandering around Montgomery County for several days.

The bear was found in a tree in the Rydal section of Abington Township.

Game officials tranquilized the 125 pound bear with a dart gun.

The animal fell asleep and fell from the tree and into a backyard on the 900 block of Meetinghouse Road.

Earlier in the week, the bear was spotted in the area of Shady Lane and Pine Road.

Experts say the bear is about 1 1/2 years old.

They will tag him, and take up to Northeastern Pennsylvania to be released into the wild.
