ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. (WPVI) -- Hundreds of former casino workers showed up to the Atlantic City Convention Center Wednesday hoping to find their next job.

The line to get into today's job fair wrapped around the fourth floor of the convention center. Most of the job seekers are newly out of work casino workers.

About 60 businesses were there, with more than a thousand available jobs.

After several casinos in Atlantic City shut down, the New Jersey Department of Labor organized a resource center and this job fair today.

While the city is working on replacing those lost businesses and jobs. The focus right now is on getting people into existing opportunities.

The opportunities that are available are making workers feel more optimistic about the future.

Shakir Shalaam tells us, "I just went in there and talked to a few employers, some school. I feel real positive."

Brenna Stotts says, "My babies motivate me. So that's why I'm here. So hopefully I come out good."

If you weren't able to come today, you can head to the N.J. Department of Labor website and look for jobs. There is a specific tab for Atlantic City with jobs in a 50 mile radius.
