A young child was rushed to the hospital after getting hit by a pickup truck in Wilmington.

WILMINGTON (WPVI) -- A young child was rushed to the hospital after getting hit by a pickup truck in Wilmington.

It happened just before 6 p.m. Tuesday on the 1200 block of Linden Street.

Police say a 10-year-old boy ran into the oncoming traffic when he was struck by a Dodge Ram pickup truck, operated by a 44-year-old female.

Crews quickly removed the child from under the truck and took him to Alfred I. DuPont Hospital for Children.

He remains in stable condition with injuries to his head and face.

The driver of the striking vehicle remained on scene.

She is cooperating with police, and no charges have been filed against her.
