HOLMESBURG (WPVI) -- A family is hoping a reward will help police find the hit-and-run driver who fatally struck a 33-year-old woman in Philadelphia's Holmesburg section.

"She was a great person, good heart," said Victor Rescigno, brother-in-law.

Victor Rescigno says his sister-in-law Theresa Pozzi was a wonderful person.

"She was a person that would go out of her way to help you," said Rescigno.

On Tuesday December 23rd, at about 5:20 in the evening, the 33-year-old was crossing the street in the 8500 block of State Road.

Police say she only made it part way.

"They explained that she was walking across the street and she was halfway across the street and a truck hit her," said Rescigno.

The driver fled the scene.

A few witnesses stopped to help Pozzi but she later died at the hospital.

"We'd like to thank the people that actually stood there and helped," said Rescigno.

Surveillance video from a nearby business shows a dark colored older model truck or tow truck leaving the scene.

Detectives say the truck's cab has a unique shape, like one from the 60s.

A piece from it broke off and was recovered by authorities.

"Whoever, whoever please just come forward, don't be a coward, come forward. I mean that's all we are asking to give our family some kind of peace," said Rescigno.

"In my heart I know there is somebody out there that knows something," said Anna Pozzi, mother.

The Citizens Crime Commission is administering $4,500 for the arrest and conviction of the person responsible.

AAA Mid-Atlantic put $2,500 to that reward and Pozzi's family and friends put up the rest.

All you have to do is call 215-546-TIPS (8477). All calls will remain anonymous.
