CAMDEN, N.J. (WPVI) -- It's been six years since a shooting in Camden took a son away from his family and now a reward is being offered in hopes of finding his killer.

Betty Fisher wasn't blind to her son, Jamar's lifestyle.

"He had some problems with a couple of fights he had out in the street," said Fisher.

She insists that the 29-year-old was a good person and didn't deserve to be shot to death.

"Nobody has the right to take nobody's life," said Fisher.

On April 6, 2008, Jamar and another person were at the intersection of 8th and Elm Streets in Camden, which police say is a known drug area. At about 7:20 p.m., both were shot.

"It appeared, at the time of the investigation, that both Jamar and this second surviving victim were struck from behind," said Detective Fawn Ackerman, Camden County Prosecutor's Office.

A passing car was also struck by gunfire.

"There was also another car that was struck during this homicide that was just stopping at the stop sign. Luckily the people inside got minor cuts and bruises from glass," said Detective Ackerman.

The surviving victim has not been able to provide investigators with any leads.

"The biggest obstacle that we have is trying to get people to come forward," said Detective Ackerman.

Fisher hopes to soon see justice for her son so she will finally have some peace.

"I can't really go to his gravesite, I can't really hang any pictures of him up in my house," she said.

The Citizens Crime Commission is administering a $1,000 reward for the arrest and conviction of the person responsible.

All you have to do is call 215-546-TIPS (8477). All calls will remain anonymous.
