Delaware State Police responded to an accident Friday night, but ended up discovering a murder in Bear, Delaware.

BEAR, Del. (WPVI) -- Delaware State Police have arrested a 17-year-old male in connection to an accident last Friday night, that ended up being a murder in Bear, Delaware.

The incident began in the area of Apple Chase Apartments in Newark, Delaware.

Authorities say 18-year-old Tyreek Larkins and two passengers were sitting in his car in the parking lot when someone came up and shot him.

The driver took off, suffering from a gunshot wound to his upper body, and ended up crashing into another car at Pulaski Highway and Scotland Drive.

He was taken to Christiana Medical Center where he was later pronounced dead.

A DelDOT employee working at the crash scene was struck by a driver who then took off.

The DelDOT worker's foot was run over, but he'll be OK.

The suspect was located on July 7 around 12 p.m. inside a home on the 7200 block of Tulip Street in Philadelphia.

The teen is charged with murder in the first degree, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony and other offenses.
