DARBY, Pa. (WPVI) -- A Delaware County couple, whose infant daughter was mauled by their pet ferrets, were back in court in Darby on Wednesday.

42-year-old Burnie Fraim and 24-year-old Jessica Benales are charged with child endangerment.

Their one-month-old daughter's face was partially bitten off by the family's pet ferrets last month.

The child survived, but has a long road of recovery ahead.

Four other children were inside the home, and all are now in foster care.

The couple's lawyer, Thomas Fieger, says they're not bad parents.

Fieger says, "There's always two sides to every story. And essentially, these parents are very concerned and responsible parents, and they make do with what they have. And I even spoke to the pediatrician who spoke glowingly of how they tried to take care of these children."

Today's hearing was continued until next month, but the judge again ordered the couple to undergo psychiatric evaluations.
