Dollar store robbed at gunpoint in West Mount Airy

Philadelphia police are searching for a pair of suspects who robbed a dollar store at gunpoint in the city's West Mount Airy section.

WEST MOUNT AIRY (WPVI) -- Philadelphia police are looking for a pair of armed suspects who robbed a dollar store in he city's West Mount Airy section Friday night.

Authorities say the pair entered the Dollar General Store on the 6500 block of Greene Street at 9:30 p.m.

They ordered several employees and customers to the back of the store at gunpoint.

One suspect began binding the employees and customers hands with plastic pull ties, but one customer was able to escape.

That's when the duo fled the scene and the manager was able to dial 911.

A cell phone was taken from one of the customers.

Nothing was taken from the store.

The first suspect is described as a black male in his mid to late 20s, 5'6"-5'9" tall with a thin build and a beard and mustache. He was wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt and black pants.

The second suspect is described as a black male in his mid to late 20s, 5'6"-5'9" tall with a beard and piercing on his chin. He was wearing a black knit hat and a black hooded sweatshirt.
