NORTH PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- Police say two men were shot, including one of them by an officer, after a shootout broke out near a Father's Day block party in North Philadelphia.

It happened around 3:20 Sunday afternoon on the 3200 block of Randolph Street.

Officers were already in the area when they heard the gunshots.

Police say two armed men were involved in a shootout and officers were forced to discharge their weapons.

The next block over on Fairhill Street, where the block party was being held, toys and an inflatable pool could still be spotted surrounded by police tape.

One of the suspects had ran through the area before he was shot by a 25th district officer. That suspect was hit in the arm and taken to Temple University Hospital in stable condition.

Another suspect was found shot multiple times, though not believed to be by police. He was hospitalized in critical condition.

Crime scene investigators found shell casings in a gravel lot and in front of homes where people ran for cover during the hail of gunfire.

No one else was injured and no word what sparked the shootout.

Police continue to investigate.
