NORTH PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- Dozens of people took to the streets late Thursday night to protest police brutality.

It started around 11:30 p.m. when members of the Philadelphia Coalition for Real Justice gathered at North 17th Street and West Montgomery Avenue.

The vigil was held outside the 22nd police district.

The activists lit candles and read the names of people who have been killed by police across the country.

The protesters told Action News that this gathering was in response to several arrests that were made at an earlier vigil.

Police would not confirm how many people were arrested or why they were taken into custody on that occasion.
