WILDWOOD, N.J. (WPVI) -- During the summer the shore is the place to be and one group in particular had a special day of fun.

About 75 kids and adults from "21 Down" were given the royal treatment at the shore.

All of them have Down Syndrome.

But Monday that didn't matter as this was their annual "Beach Day"

They hit the ocean to swim and to surf on the boards.

It's organized and hosted by the lifeguards at Wildwood beach.

Billy Auty was one of the lifeguards involved.

"They're surrounded by lifeguards and professionals who know what they're doing around water help the kids feel confident," he said.

"The favorite part of the day is to see that big smile some of the kids may not be vocal but you see that huge smiles," said Pam Ginet from Seaville, New Jersey.

This is the 7th year in a row that the Lifeguards at Wildwood have put this on for the kids and adults with Down Syndrome.
