The Red Cross is assisting six adults and three children after a fire erupted inside apartments in Voorhees, New Jersey.

VOORHEES, N.J. (WPVI) -- The Red Cross is assisting six adults and three children after a fire erupted inside apartments in Voorhees, New Jersey.

The fire started before 1 a.m. Thursday at the Echelon Village Apartments on the 100 block of Van Buren Road.

Three units were damaged by the fire.

Fire crews were able to get the flames under control within a half hour.

Investigators are looking at a malfunctioning HVAC unit as a possible cause.

There were no serious injuries.
