A girl was taken to the hospital after a fight on a school bus in Pennsauken, New Jersey.

PENNSAUKEN, N.J. (WPVI) -- A girl was taken to the hospital after being slashed in the face on a school bus in Pennsauken, New Jersey.

The incident happened around 2 p.m. Thursday outside Pennsauken High School and involving two teenage girls.

Police say a 16-year-old girl seriously cut another female teen. The victim was standing near the front of the bus when she was slashed with an object.

The attacker was taken into custody after she stepped off the bus.

She is charged with Aggravated Assault, Unlawful Possession of a Weapon, Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose and Possession of a Weapon on School Grounds.

The weapon may have been a razor or box cutter, police said.

The victim was taken to Cooper University Hospital. Her injuries do not appear to be life threatening.

There were another 40 students on the bus at the time, officials said.
