For many people, the long holiday weekend is a chance to get to the beach.

MARGATE CITY, N.J. (WPVI) -- Many people are getting ready for the long holiday weekend that kicked off on Friday by heading to the Jersey Shore.

Plenty of people are out on the beach. They are already at Granville Beach in Margate City, New Jersey, and ready to celebrate the 4th of July.

While it's vacation time for these folks, it's crunch time for local businesses.

Action News spoke to one business owner who says this weekend is like Christmas.

Cyclists happily pedaled away from the AAAA Bike Shop in Ventnor.

After 38 years in business on Ventnor Avenue, the owners say they've learned to over-staff their shop on 4th of July weekend, expecting all 70 of their bikes to rent.

Michael Wiesen from AAAA Bike Shop says, "We count very heavily on this weekend. It pushes us through. It makes the rest of the summer a little bit easier if we have an off day or a couple days so we do count very heavily on this weekend."

Stacey Berman spends her whole summer here in Ventnor. Lucky for her, the AAAA Bike Shop also does repairs.

"I'm obsessed with riding my bike down the shore. I love it. I ride my bike every morning on the boardwalk. It's like my therapy, and I had a flat tire this morning," she said.

We found folks swimming and playing catch in the ocean, but a group of 65 three and four-year-olds stole the show.

The tiny participants of "Camp by the Sea" kicked off their summer camp this week.

Camp Counselor Linda Harter says, "It's awesome. They're just so cute, they love the water. They love to play in the sand. It's great."

It's nice and calm and a gorgeous day to get out and enjoy the water.
