Lindenwold apartment fire displaces dozens

Flames damaged several apartments at a complex in Lindenwold, New Jersey early Saturday morning.

LINDENWOLD, N.j. (WPVI) -- More than two dozen people were displaced after flames tore through an apartment complex in Lindenwold, New Jersey.

The fire broke out just after 3:00 a.m. Saturday in building 2700 of the Emerald Ridge Apartments located at 101 Gibbsboro Road.

Firefighters arrived to flames shooting through the roof. Frozen fire hydrants prevented firefighters from getting control earlier.

Officials say nine units were affected.

The residents managed to get out safely and with no injuries.

The Red Cross is assisting 17 adults and nine children who were displaced in the blaze.

No word on what sparked the fire.
