A 69-year-old man is dead after being struck by a hit-and-run driver.

VINELAND, N.J. (WPVI) -- Police are questioning an 18-year-old man after a 69-year-old man was struck and killed by a driver who left the scene in Vineland.

It happened at 10:30 p.m. Saturday.

Police say the victim was struck by a pickup truck as walked across Delsea Drive.

They say he had taken a taxicab to the Cosmopolitan Diner, and, when he realized the diner was closed, tried to cross Delsea Drive on foot and was struck.

The driver who hit him kept going.

Police later received a call from the father of an 18-year-old man in Millville, who told them his son had just returned home and told him he thought he struck a deer.

The 18-year-old is being questioned. So far, no charges have been filed.
