Man critically wounded in Juniata shooting

JUNIATA (WPVI) -- A man was hospitalized in critical condition after a shooting in Philadelphia's Juniata section.

It happened just after 9:00 p.m. Friday in the 1500 block of East Luzerne Street.

Authorities say someone opened fire on a 61-year-old man, striking him in the chest.

The victim was found lying next to his store, La Parada restaurant.

The victim was rushed to Temple University Hospital in critical but stable condition.

He was taken into surgery and was unable to provide any information to the police.

According to witnesses inside the restaurant, they told police the victim went outside to close up the restaurant when he was shot.

No word on a motive or any possible suspects.
