PLUMSTEAD TWP., Pa. (WPVI) -- A male pedestrian was struck and killed in Plumstead Township, Bucks County.

It happened just before 2:30 p.m. Sunday in the 4300 block of Route 313.

Police say the man was crossing the street in the westbound lanes and stepped right in front of a pickup truck.

The victim is described as a 59-year-old Doylestown man. His identity has not been released.

Officials say the area is a heavily traveled roadway that's tough to get across.

"There's no crosswalk in this location. There's not too much pedestrian traffic and as you can see there's not really sidewalks until right directly in front of the car dealers," said Chief Duane Hasenauer, Plumstead Police.

The roadway was shut down as police cleared the scene and investigated.
