Man identified in fatal hit-and-run in West Kensington

Philadelphia Police were able to locate the striking vehicle nearby on the 300 block of Allegheny Avenue.

WEST KENSINGTON (WPVI) -- A man has died after being struck by a car in West Kensington on Thursday night.

The incident happened just before 11 p.m. at the intersection of B and Westmoreland streets.

He was rushed to Temple University Hospital where he was later pronounced dead.

The victim's sister, Kim Vanderburg, identified him Friday as 56-year-old Gordon Vanderburg.

He would have turned 57 on Oct. 17, she said.

Vanderburg's sister said he probably didn't sense the accident because he was deaf.

Police were able to locate the vehicle nearby on the 300 block of Allegheny Avenue.

The driver was tested for DUI, police said.

So far, no charges have been filed.
