LOWER MAKEFIELD, Pa. (WPVI) -- Police have identified the person killed after being struck by two vehicles on I-95 in Lower Makefield, Bucks County.

Authorities say a Suzuki being driven by 26-year-old Daniel Raymond of Levittown, Pa. broke down on I-95 near the Newtown-Yardley exit shortly after 12:00 a.m. Sunday.

His passenger, 30-year-old Benjamin Melendez of Trenton, called a friend to ask for her help.

The friend soon arrived on the scene.

At that time, police say, Melendez left the Suzuki and began to cross the road to meet his friend.

That's when Melendez was struck by a passing Lexus.

The Lexus driver stopped at the scene.

Police say Raymond saw his friend get hit and ran out of the car to drag Melendez from the road.

The two were then hit by another vehicle, a Hyundai Sante Fe.

The Sante Fe driver also stopped at the scene.

Benjamin Melendez was pronounced dead at the scene.

Daniel Raymond was transported to St. Mary Medical Center in Langhorne with unknown injuries.

Police say the drivers of the Lexus and Hyundai were not injured and there was no alcohol in their systems.

Police shut down I-95 in Bucks County for approximately five hours.

Authorities are continuing to investigate.
