NEW CASTLE, Del. -- Police have identified the man killed in a shooting at a community center in New Castle, Delaware on Monday afternoon.

Jamar Kilgoe, 30, of the 900 block of East 24th Street, died after the shooting at the Rose Hill Community Center.

Police say Kilgoe was in a recording studio located on the lower level when he was shot by an unknown male suspect.

Witnesses say the gunman ran into the center, went to the basement, and shot Kilgoe before fleeing on foot.

Kilgoe was pronounced dead at the scene. There were no other injuries.

That suspect is described as a black male with a large build. He was last seen wearing a light-colored hoodie, dark pants and dark shoes.

Anyone with information is asked to call New Castle County Police at (302) 573-2800.

Authorities say there were teens, pre-teens, and children inside the building at the time.

One parent, Bill Nunn, said he got a call from his child, saying "Come get me, there's been a shooting in the training center, please come get me."

"I tried to go in, but I was stopped at the door. They said they had everything locked down. I tried several times, but they wouldn't let me in," Nunn continued.

The building was locked down for an hour and a half.
