GERMANTOWN (WPVI) -- Philadelphia Police are investigating a shooting in Germantown that has left a 30-year-old man fighting for his life.

Authorities say it happened around 12:30 a.m. Thursday along the 5000 block of Germantown Avenue.

Officers responded to multiple reports of gunfire.

They arrived to find the victim unresponsive, with gunshot wounds in his neck, chest, torso and groin area.

Police rushed him to Temple University Hospital in very critical condition.

Investigators have talked to several witnesses, but none have been able to provide a description of the suspect, and the motive for the shooting remains unclear.

But based on the ballistic evidence, police do believe the shooter wanted this man dead.

Less than 24 hours earlier, just blocks away from Thursday's shooting scene, police discovered the body of a man lying on the street between two parked cars.

As of Thursday morning, they did not believe the two incidents are connected.

This area is lined with businesses, so police are hopeful that surveillance cameras may have recorded video of the suspect.
