A man was shot in the stomach, collapsing in the street in Philadelphia's Strawberry Mansion section.

STRAWBERRY MANSION (WPVI) -- Police say a man was shot in the stomach late Monday and collapsed in the street in Philadelphia's Strawberry Mansion section.

It happened at 11:00 p.m. Monday at 30th and West Huntingdon Streets.

Police say the gunman opened fire on the 23-year-old victim at close range.

The man was rushed into surgery at Temple University Hospital, where he remains in critical condition.

Police do not know who shot the man or why.

They were checking surveillance cameras in the area for clues.
