Man shot during attempted home invasion in Tacony

TACONY (WPVI) -- Police are investigating an attempted home invasion that left a man shot in Philadelphia's Tacony section.

It happened before 2 a.m. Saturday on the 4800 block of Longshore Avenue.

Police say the victim was shot trying to stop burglars with guns from entering his apartment.

The victim heard a knock at his door. He opened it to find two armed masked men.

As the victim quickly tried to shut the door, one suspect fired two times, striking him in the shoulder, police say.

The suspects then fled the scene without taking anything.

The victim was taken to Aria Frankford Hospital in stable condition.

There was a man and woman inside the apartment at the time of the incident. Fortunately, they were not hurt.

Police are talking to witnesses.
