Man shot, killed behind own home in Crescentville
CRESCENTVILLE (WPVI) -- Two gunmen robbed, shot and killed a man behind his own home in the Crescentville section of Philadelphia.
The incident happened around 10:45 p.m. Sunday on the 5100 block of F Street.
Police say 28-year-old Jhonny Quezada was returning home after shopping.
Two men approached him, and at least one of them had a gun. Quezada was shot multiple times in the alleyway.
Police say the shooter hit Quezada at point blank range.
Quezada's wife and baby were inside the house at the time of the shooting.
His sister-in-law said, "My sister heard two shots. He was on the ground. She calls and tells him come home, I heard two shots. He said 'it was me. I'm on the ground, come bring me water. I'm thirsty.' That's all she remembers."
He was taken to the Temple Hospital, and while in and out of consciousness, he was able to give police some information.
Quezada said he was robbed and, after he was shot, one of the suspects took a semi-automatic gun from him.
Police say they don't know if the Quezada got a chance to even pull that weapon, or was it stolen as a result of the robbery.
Quezada later died from his injuries.
Police are reviewing surveillance video hoping it helps them identify the two suspects.
Quezada worked as a barber at the Aguila barbershop in the 4800 block of North Front Street in Feltonville. His friends and co-workers are heartbroken over his murder, and paused on Monday afternoon to say a prayer.
"I mean, we're feeling really bad because he was a nice guy. That we know of he didn't have any enemies or anything like that," said co-worker Adan Rosario.
His family said he was a hardworking man. He worked at a barber shop, and was sending home money to his mother in the Dominican Republic.
"Always took care of her. Always took care of all of us. Always took care of his son," his sister-in-law said.
Along with reviewing surveillance video, police are questioning at least one witness in this case.
