Man shot on front steps in North Philadelphia; girlfriend spared

NORTH PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- A 21-year-old man is dead after being shot while sitting with his girlfriend on the front steps of a home in North Philadelphia.

It happened just after 10:30 p.m. Wednesday in the 3000 block of North Howard Street.

Police say someone approached the victim and opened fire.

The man was hit multiple times.

Police say his girlfriend, who was sitting on the steps with him, was not injured.

Medics took the victim to Temple University Hospital, where he was pronounced dead about an hour later.

So far no word on suspects or a motive for this crime.
