A 21-year-old man is in critical condition after being shot in the Grays Ferry section of Philadlephia.

GRAYS FERRY (WPVI) -- A 21-year-old man is in critical condition after being shot while walking with a friend in the Grays Ferry section of Philadelphia.

Police say the victim and a female friend were walking near 31st and Dickinson Streets before 1:30 a.m. Saturday when a man approached them and started shooting.

The victim pushed his friend out of the way as the gunfire erupted and told her to run.

The victim was shot in the chest and legs.

He was able to run two blocks to a home in the 1400 block of South Patton Street, got in through a rear basement door and collapsed on the basement steps.

Medics took him to Penn Presbyterian Medical Center in critical condition.

Police are looking for a black man, 5'10" tall, 210 lbs., with a muscular build and shoulder-length dreadlocks.

He was wearing a light green shirt and blue jeans.

So far there have been no arrests.
