Marble slab crashes to the ground in Center City

CENTER CITY (WPVI) -- A marble slab fell off the front of a store in Center City, Philadelphia late Thursday night.

The incident happened just before midnight on the 1500 block of Chestnut Street.

Police say the sign crashed through the awning of a handbag store and broke apart onto the sidewalk and street.

There were no injuries reported.

The fire department and L & I responded to the scene.

The city inspectors are investigating.
