Victims shot before crashing into Olney home, police say

Police say two men were shot and one is dead inside a minivan that also crashed into a house in Philadelphia's Olney section early Thursday morning.

OLNEY (WPVI) -- Philadelphia police say one man is dead and another wounded after being shot in a minivan that crashed into a home in Olney.

The incident happened around 12:45 a.m. Thursday.

Police arrived to find a 20-year-old man getting out of the passenger side of a minivan that had crashed in the 5500 block of North American Street.

Officers quickly discovered the man had been shot in the head and hand.

Inside the van, they found a 21-year-old man who had been shot in the back the head.

Both victims were rushed to Einstein Medical Center.

The 21-year-old was pronounced dead. The 20-year-old is listed in stable condition.

Investigators believe both men were shot in the minivan before it hit a tree and slammed into a home.

Police say they found a gun and some marijuana inside the van.

Witnesses said they saw three people running from the van after the crash.

Investigators are working to identify suspects and determine a motive for the shooting.

Meantime, five people were inside the home when the minivan crashed into it. None were hurt.

The house sustained some interior and exterior damage.

City inspectors checked the structure after the crash and have cleared it for the residents to return.
