New research facility coming to Navy Yard in South Philadelphia

SOUTH PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- The Navy Yard in South Philadelphia will soon be home to a new $70 million dollar research facility.

Axalta Coating Systems announced plans for the 175-thousand square foot building Wednesday.

The company said it will create 190 new full-time jobs at the new location while retaining nearly 400 current positions.

The project is expected to be complete in late 2017.
