Newark assault investigation focuses on 2 cars

NEWARK, Del. (WPVI) -- Police in Newark, Delaware say a 23-year-old woman was sexually assaulted after accepting a ride home from two strangers last month.

Officers tell Action News the young woman met the suspects as she was leaving Grotto's Pizza on East Main Street back on July 24th.

Police say though the victim can't recall much, she does remember being taken to an apartment complex sometime after midnight and assaulted.

She was later dropped off at home.

Police believe the victim may have been targeted because she was impaired, but stress this was an isolated incident.

Officers have released a photo showing two cars believed to be connected to the assault.
