NORTHEAST PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- Two police officers and a civilian were taken to area hospitals after a crash on Friday in Northeast Philadelphia.

Police say it began when officers tried to pull over a car around noon.

Before the officers were able to pull the car over, their cruiser collided with another vehicle in the 4700 block of Large Street.

The car police were trying to pull over stopped a few blocks away. The driver of that car was allowed to leave.

Medics transported two officers to Temple University Hospital in stable condition. One had been released by 1:30 p.m., the other was still being evaluated.

A civilian was taken to Einstein Medical Center in stable condition with injuries said to be minor.

Earlier reports that indicated this crash was a hit-and-run following a police pursuit are unfounded.
