Police tell Action News the man was trying to cross the road when he was struck, damaging the windshield of the car.

WILMINGTON, Del. (WPVI) -- A man was struck by a car and critically injured Tuesday morning in Wilmington.

It happened at 6:15 a.m. Tuesday in the 200 block of East Front Street.

A 45-year-old man from Maryland was was attempting to cross the street when he was struck by an Oldsmobile Alero.

The victim was transported to Christiana Hospital where he is listed in critical condition.

The 54-year-old driver of the Oldsmobile remained at the scene.

No charges have been filed at this time.

The accident remains under investigation.
