VIDEO: Worker rescued from Wilmington high rise
A power washer was left hanging on the side of a building in Wilmington today when the scaffolding he was on malfunctioned.

WILMINGTON, Del. (WPVI) -- A power washer was trapped on the side of a Wilmington, Delaware high rise Tuesday - but made it through the ordeal no worse for wear.

Emergency crews were dispatched shortly before 9:00 a.m. to the Bank of America Building at 1100 N King Street to the report of a man stuck at the 8th floor level.

A supervisor at the scene says the motor that operates the scaffold stopped working and the scaffolding lowered to the ground, leaving worker hanging in his harness.

Jayling Boltson was hanging in the harness for about 15 minutes.

Bolston tells us, "It descended down. See, once that happens, there aint too much you can do. You push the emergency stop, and it kept going. And things don't stop all you can do is hang on."

A photo obtained by Action News showed Bolston suspended in the air near the top of the building.

Shortly after 9:00 Bolston's partner was able to get the motor to reengage and moved the scaffold up to help him.

"You can't panic. You need experience in that. You need the training," Bolston said.

Derek Payne from Cassidy Painting tells Action News, "Everything was rigged safely, everybody was tied up, everybody has their hard hats on, everything was done accordingly. We just had a failed equipment."

59-year-old Bolston says he'll be back to work tomorrow. He says 8 floors are nothing... he once was suspended 30 floors high.
