Police: Brother found woman dead in Northeast Philadelphia

NORTHEAST PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- Police are investigating the death of a woman in Northeast Philadelphia.

The discovery was made around 3:15 p.m. Monday inside an apartment on the 1400 block of Greeby Street.

Police say they were called by the woman's brother, who said he had not heard from her in several days.

He got no answer when he knocked on her door, so he climbed a ladder and entered her apartment through a window.

Once inside he found the 53-year-old woman dead on the couch.

She had possible wounds to the face and neck along with drug paraphernalia around her, police said.

Police say the cause of death is unknown at this time. The woman's name has not been released.

An investigation is ongoing with the Homicide Unit.
