A police dispatcher from Absecon, New Jersey is facing charges in a crash that killed a pedestrian.

GALLOWAY TWP., N.J. (WPVI) -- A police dispatcher from Absecon, New Jersey is facing charges in a crash that killed a pedestrian.

It happened Friday morning along Tilton Road in Galloway Township.

Police say 36-year-old Richard Doherty was driving under the influence when he struck a man who was walking on the shoulder.

The victim, 29-year-old Alfonso Dickerson, was pronounced dead.

Doherty was arrested and charged with DUI.

Authorities say he is likely to face more charges in the coming weeks.
