HOCKESSIN, Del. (WPVI) -- Police are looking for the hit-and-run driver who fatally struck a bicyclist in Hockessin, Delaware.

A passerby discovered the victim around 8:45 p.m. Friday along Brackenville Road.

Authorities say 27-year-old Phillip A. Bishop of Hockessin was riding his bicycle south bound on Brackenville Road, north of Horseshoe Hill Road - a tree lined and extremely dark area.

Bishop was wearing a helmet with a head lamp, flash light and rear flashing red marker light on his bicycle when he was struck by a vehicle.

He was taken to Christiana Hospital where he later died.

Based on evidence recovered at the scene, investigators believe an Audi A4 or S4, possibly a 2002-2004 model, black in color, was traveling north bound on Brackenville Road, and struck the victim on his bicycle.

Anyone with information is urged to contact New Castle County Police at 302-395-8110.
