Delaware State Police are currently investigating an auto pedestrian accident that left one person dead.

CLAYMONT, Del. (WPVI) -- Delaware State Police have identified the man killed in an auto pedestrian accident.

The accident happened around 6:10 p.m. Sunday on Philadelphia Pike in the area of Harvey Road in Claymont.

Police say 60-year-old Leo F. Mitchell of Claymont was struck by a 2004 Saturn Vue, operated by 58-year-old Roland Brown of Middletown, who was traveling northbound.

Mitchell was taken to Christiana Hospital where they were pronounced dead.

Brown, who was properly restrained and was uninjured in the crash, did remain at the scene, police say. Alcohol and speed are not considered factors in the collision on the part of the driver.

Investigators shut down the road for about three hours to piece together the collision.
