Police are investigating the alleged attack of a SEPTA bus driver.

NORTH PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- Police are investigating an alleged assault of a SEPTA bus driver in North Philadelphia.

SEPTA police were called to 22nd Street and Lehigh Avenue around 1:00 a.m. Sunday.

Police say the driver of the Route 54 bus was assaulted, but they are still investigating exactly what happened and why.

No arrests have been reported, however, police say they are searching for the driver of a white Mercedes Benz with PA tags that fled the scene.

A number of passengers were onboard the bus at the time of the incident.

The bus driver declined hospital treatment and no other injuries were reported.
