SOUTH PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- Authorities say they've discovered a body in the area where they were searching for a swimmer who went missing in the Delaware River.

It all began around 4:45 p.m. Friday behind a Walmart store in the 1600 block of South Christopher Columbus Boulevard in South Philadelphia.

Authorities say the victim, a man in his 50s, was swimming when he went under and did not resurface.

The body of a man was found Friday evening in the river near Pier 60. Police say that's near where the victim went in.

No word yet if the body found was that of the missing swimmer.

Police have not released an identity.
