Police are investigating a pickup truck crash that injured two teens heading to school in Marshallton, Delaware Tuesday morning.

NEWARK, Del. (WPVI) -- Police are investigating a pickup truck crash that injured two teens heading to school in Marshallton, Delaware Tuesday morning.

The incident happened at 7:45 a.m. on the 1900 block of Newport Road when a pickup truck overturned and crashed into a utility pole.

The teens were heading to DelCastle High School when their vehicle flipped over.

According to police, the accident happened when the 16-year-old driver of the 2010 Ford F250 was "spinning" his tires and lost control of the vehicle.

Officials say the impact of the crash caused the utility pole to break.

The 16-year-old driver from Marshallton was transported to Christiana Hospital. A 17-year-old passenger, also from Marshallton, was transported to A.I. DuPont Hospital. Both suffered minor injuries.

The driver was issued two citations for speed exhibition and careless driving.
