Police: Upper Merion bank robber tried to flee in cab

UPPER MERION TWP., Pa. (WPVI) -- Upper Merion Township police arrested a suspected bank robber who allegedly tried to grab a cab during his getaway.

It happened at the PNC bank along the 100 block of East Dekalb Pike around 3:30 p.m. Thursday.

Authorities say the suspect implied that he had a gun, grabbed money from the teller and ran out of the bank.

Officers say they caught up with him when he tried to get into a cab.

He was then taken into custody.
