CHESTER, Pa. (WPVI) -- What was first reported as a hit-and-run in Chester, Pa. was later revealed to be part of a domestic incident between a woman and her ex-boyfriend.

The incident also led to shots being fired.

"I was sleeping and I woke up and I heard two gunshots," said neighbor Kenny Jones.

It happened around 12:30 a.m. Tuesday near the intersection of 9th and Parker.

"I have a scanner in my room, so I turned my scanner on. I heard police saying someone had been hit by a car, so then I heard cop cars lined up in the street," said Jones.

Officers on patrol heard the gunshots and approached a vehicle on the 400 block of West 9th.

Officers recognized the driver as a woman who was involved in a domestic incident earlier in the night with her ex-boyfriend, and asked her what happened.

Police say words had been exchanged, then she tried to run over her ex-boyfriend and his friend with her car, at which point police say her ex-boyfriend fired shots in her direction.

No one was seriously injured.

Chester police say an investigation continues and no decision has been made on what charges could be filed.
