A pregnant woman was attacked and robbed in South Philadelphia.

SOUTH PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- A pregnant woman had no idea she'd be the target of a thief who police say was just looking for someone to rob.

The attack happened around 9:15 p.m. on December 22nd along the 100 block Manton Street in South Philadelphia.

Surveillance video shows a grey SUV, possibly a 2004-2009 Dodge Durango, stop in the middle of the street.

An unknown male exits the SUV and approaches a 41-year-old pregnant mother of two from behind.

He punches her one time in the right side of her head causing her to fall.

While on the ground, police say the suspect took her pocketbook and a bag of food then entered his vehicle. He was last seen south on Front Street towards Reed Street.

The victim was transported to Pennsylvania Hospital where she was treated for swelling and bruising around her right eye and was listed in stable condition.

She was being held for observation due to her pregnancy.
