Police say a North Philadelphia resident used a baseball bat to beat a man who broke into his home.

NORTH PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- Police say a North Philadelphia resident used a baseball bat to beat a man who broke into his home.

The incident happened after 7 p.m. Thursday on the 2800 block of North 6th Street.

According to police, the 37-year-old suspect forced his way into the home, and assaulted a 54-year-old woman.

Another person from the home fought off the attacker with a bat.

The suspect was rushed to the hospital for treatment.

The woman was also hospitalized and is expected to be okay.
