MANTUA (WPVI) -- Some residents in Philadelphia's Mantua section woke up to a smelly situation Tuesday morning.

Bags upon bags of trash littered the ground here on the 700 block of North 41st Street.

One resident we spoke with says she first noticed the trash around 5:30.

It's still not clear how the bags ended up there, but the resident thinks a garbage truck may have been overloaded, and accidentally spilled the trash.

About an hour or so after the woman called the city, crews responded and cleaned up the mess.
