School bus involved in Galloway Township crash

GALLOWAY TWP., N.J. (WPVI) -- Atlantic County authorities are investigating an accident that reportedly involved a school bus in Galloway Township.

Police say the accident happened around 3:15 p.m. Thursday at the intersection of South Cologne Avenue and Aloe Street.

According to authorities, a 19-year-old male was driving a 2000 Isuzu box truck and traveling east bound on Aloe Street. He approached the intersection with Cologne Avenue and initially stopped for the posted stop sign.

The teen, police say, proceeded through the intersection prior to making sure the roadway was clear and was struck by a school bus driven by a 64-year-old woman.

No one involved in the accident reported any injuries on the scene.

All of the students on the bus, who attend Atlantic County Special Services School, were transported to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center Mainland Division for evaluation as a precaution.

The 19-year-old was issued a summons for careless driving.

Traffic was delayed for approximately one hour while police investigated the accident.
