Sea Isle's 'Queen of the Polar Bear Plunge' has died

SEA ISLE, N.J. (WPVI) -- Sea Isle City is mourning the loss of a woman known as its queen.

Dr. Irene Jameson was widely known and widely loved as the "Queen of the Polar Bear Plunge" in Sea Isle.

The 90-year-old passed away at her home last week.

Jameson held the title for 13 years, and raised more than $30,000 for charity doing it.

Friends and loved held a memorial service Thursday night at The Godfrey Funeral Home of Palermo, New Jersey.
